Do you have writer’s block sometimes, when it comes to your newsletter? (Of course. It happens to everyone.)

Here are some suggestions for types of stories that have been successful in the past. Select only those where timely or researched material is available.

Undergraduate Copy

  • Spotlights on alumni
  • Any positive alumni-related copy
  • Articles from major officers (including pledge class president)
  • List of pledges (must include hometowns)
  • List of initiates (must include initiation dates; full first, middle, and last names; roll numbers; and permanent addresses ‚ i.e., parents’ addresses)
  • Lists of officers (after each election)
  • Honors, awards, campus positions, appointments, etc.
  • News items about or announcing chapter activities (include names of those in attendance; photos are great!), such as:
    • Philanthropies
    • Homecomings
    • Founders Days
    • Moms, Dads, and Parents Weekends
    • Reunions
  • Articles about changes in your university’s Greek system
  • Messages from housemother or resident advisor
  • Current or historical photographs ‚ please submit the highest quality prints available
  • Photographs

Alumni Copy

  • Reports from alumni/corporation board officers
  • Reports from advisors
  • Alumni/corporation board member address and telephone number updates
  • Financial reports
  • Spotlights or reminiscences
  • Historical articles
  • Announcements
    • Board meetings
    • Founders Days
    • Receptions
    • Reunions
    • Golf tournaments and other social events
  • Photographs
    • Past pledge classes/reunions
    • Dances
    • Projects
    • History from scrapbooks or anywhere else!
